- Crazy Matrix-style table tennis.
Gotta love the bullet-time effects. Via defective yeti, whose archives I'm
gradually working through. Lots of hilarious and interesting stuff.

- According to EDICT, the Japanese words naninimo and nannimo mean ‘everything’
and ‘nothing’ respectively. You'd think the subtle difference would be enough
to confuse, but to make things more exciting, they're both spelled 何にも.

- J-pop often uses a lot of English words, but this verse is taking it a bit far:
“I Wanna tell you
For you, My Emotion
After Hour de
Cool Down shite
Show me”

- It seems to be monsoon season in Leeds. The office, as always, is too hot to
work in, but it's pissing down outside. When will the cooling system go
online? They have no fucking clue.

- I've just decanted the spam at work for July into its separate archive folder.
During July our SpamAssassin installation caught 117625 spams, totaling
739Mb in size. So we're now up to catching 2.6 spams per minute on average.

- Our office's ‘kitchenette’ used to have a huge pile of forks, but no knives or
spoons. But someone has decided to fix that: they've taken all the forks and

- The cooling is finally turned on! Our office is pleasently cool!
What's most surprising is that they actually managed to sort this out before
the winter was completely upon us.

- Fun Japanese word of the day:
時時, tokidoki,
sometimes, occasionally. The kanji means ‘time’ on its own. Turns up
in the lyrics for C'est la vie.

- Saw a girl in the pub with the han character 気 tattooed on her back.
Just looked it up. Can mean ‘spirit’ in Japanese, but can also mean
‘gas’. Hmmm, I'd think twice before getting something meaningful tattooed on me.

- It seems that a Perl
tmon.out profile file generated on Windows needs
to be processed by dprofpp on Windows. Try it on Linux and it chokes.

- For lunch: scampi, chips, and a pint of Hoegaaden. There's something a bit
gay about a cold pint of beer with a slice of lemon in, but I can't deny
that it was very refreshing.
