  • Shiny new graphics card Sunday 1 at 13:26
I've bought a new graphics card: an nVidia FX-5500. My old nVidia card died when the fan got jammed. This one has been running for a while without problems, and its XV support is much faster. My one quick test of the 3D stuff was pretty impressive as well, but I don't really need that for anything.
  • Now with added soy Tuesday 3 at 13:49
This website is now published using the Daizu content management system.
  • Writing Japanese on Linux Sunday 15 at 18:10
Notes about how to set up UIM and Anthy so that you can type Japanese text using a non-Japanese keyboard.
  • The Devil's Interval Sunday 15 at 20:57
Three singers at the Grove last Friday.
  • Parkinson Building Sunday 29 at 16:06
After a lot of dicking about I've finally figured out how to get pictures out of my mobile phone via bluetooth on Linux. I'll write up how I did it at some point, but for now here's a picture of the Parkinson Building in Leeds I took a few years ago (yeah, my phone's been clogged up with old images for that long, so I couldn't take any more without deleting the old ones). Most of the pictures are quite grainy, but that's to be expected, especially with ones like this taken at night.
  • Steve Bloom Exhibition Tuesday 31 at 04:53
There's a great exhibition of nature photography in Millennium square in Leeds, with photos by Steve Bloom. Particularly good at night, since it's nicely lit.

  • Frosty roof tiles Friday 3 at 09:11
With my roof looking like this, you can imagine how chilly my flat is right now.
  • Getting files from a bluetooth phone Thursday 16 at 11:16
How I've used the ‘obexftp’ program to download photographs from my Nokia mobile phone to my Linux computer.
  • Salvo Caffe Restaurant Thursday 16 at 11:26
This is a picture from a café in Edinburgh. They do a decent meaty breakfast for something like £5–6. While you eat pictures of Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, and many others look down on you from the walls.

Just took the annual web design survey that AListApart do. I don't realy consider myself to be a web designer, but I have been doing a lot of HTML and CSS lately.

Strange, there appears to be a bare-knuckle boxing match going on in the field outside my flat. Wish they wouldn't make so much noise about it.

“In its written form, Hebrew has no vowels, making it the ideal language for texting.”
